Updating packages did not fix the bug.
Upon the first `apt-get upgrade` on this installation, the following
packages were upgraded (just copied the "Get" lines since they include
the precise package names with version numbers):
Get:1 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main mount amd64
2.17.
Got this in natty 20110321 when enabling the Universe repo to install
emerald. However, it did not seem to actually crash; I got a crash
report with the same info, but it did enable the repo and install the
package.

Binary package hint: gconf
Running x86_64 livecd (daily build - 21 March 2011) installed to USB
drive. If I open the "Applications" menu from the Unity dockbar, and
open the dropdown to change from "All Applications" to any other
category, the dropdown list does not function.
I am still seeing this issue in Maverick. When trying to burn an image
to a blank DVD, Brasero reports that the DVD is blank but has only
1016MB free.
I haven't experimented with anything other than burning an ISO to DVD,
nor have I checked this on any machine other than my Lenovo T61.
