I upgraded the machine to 12.04 and it still occasionally happens, but
not every time the lid is shut.

Instead of having to click around and wait for gnome-panel to eventually
crash, I now have a repeatable way to crash it immediately, on the first
try every time - If I try to launch the Chromium web browser from the
Applications -> Internet menu, it crashes immediately.

it is when launching a new window or switching desktops, but it happens
within about 20 min of normal use.
In an xterm or console window I can re-launch it from the command line.
This means that I have bee

I did a module blocklist to stop bluetooth and btusb from loading,
because I was suspicious that was related due the messages I saw when
running pm-suspend. However that did not fix it, after that pm-suspend
would lock the machine up with max load without putting out any
messages.

Just to be clear, the /proc/version_signature is now:

I can try the next upstream kernel; I won't be able to do this today,
but I can get to it over the weekend. Presuming that the next upstream

I have a Lenovo T510, with the Intel graphics.
Starting a few days ago, when I shut the lid the fan kicks in and it
starts making a lot of heat. It will do this with the lid shut until it
runs out of battery. If you open it the green ring light around the

I am seeing this on some rackspace cloud lucid machines, I think it is
because of recent updates because servers that used to send mail
stopped; also, these servers all use exim4, so it is likely not the

What further information can I collect from those servers that would be

I have seen this on our Ubuntu Asterisk server. However it was only one

packages that come with lucid for asterisk are largely unuseable and not
production quality in my opinion. Sound quality was poor; people would

I have a T510 running Ubuntu 10.9 that has this problem.
A work around seems to be to connect the USB through a powered hub.
Even if it has lost the USB from a suspend, plugging in a USB mouse or
my cell phone does nothing (not even power to the cell phone); however,
