I just got the problem as described with my OpenVPN today on my Ubuntu
15.04 installation, I have not upgraded, I've installed it from scratch.
OpenVPN has worked well now for a month since the reinstall, but today I
got the problem, and now have to delete ~/.gconf/apps/nm-
applet/%gconf.xml and l

try to make it render anything, I immediately loose the desktop and end
up at login.
I have tried to install classic gnome wihtout Unity, but no difference.

Currently, termcap is symlinked with termcap-0.0 (I didn't touch anything)

Got this problem once, tried running it again, but with english translation,
and that time I got no error:
LC_ALL=en_US sudo aptitude update
Tried again without LC_ALL=en_US and it still works, don't know if this
is a workaround or just a coincidence since I've only gotten the error
once.

Seems like Edgy and Feisty herd-3 has the same xserver-xorg-input-
synaptics version (ubuntu3), so the bug can't be located there.

I began investigating on my own and found out that if the problem is
triggered by the xserver-xorg-input-synaptics, the latest Edgy version
is 0.14.6-0ubuntu3, so the problem must then have been triggered between
version 0.14.6-0ubuntu4 and 0.14.6-0ubuntu7. It also seems like the
problem isn't sour
