Found the reason months ago : exported DEBUG=1 in /etc/profile, set in

Matthew, thanks for the answer, but I tried to purge and reinstall
notify-osd and it's still the same. I upgraded from 15.10 to 16.04
(notify-osd was already broken in 15.10 as I remember), don't know if it
may be relevant, but...
