sorry, but I don't use that machine anymore.

I just wanted to report that I eventually cured the problem by disabling
some bios option to do with power save states.

I can confirm that nautilus 2.30.1 on Lucid 64 bit does not search. As

See my previous message. One thing: it is now clear that the problem

Hi,
Cannot test these all now, but I've tried the suspend on lid close.
Again it worked fine first time (i.e., it suspended and then resumed
correctly when I opened the lid). However, the second time, the lid open
produced a reboot.
I'll test other things tomorrow morning.
Many thanks

Suspend seems to work fine, but there is a resume problem. The machine

With last night updates the problem has gone. These included the new
splash screen. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
Anyway, problem solved.

Yes, I'm using Intel. This morning (UK time) I checked for updates and
found there were some. After installing them I get exactly the same
behaviour as you. (With last night's state I could not use CTRL+ALT+Fn

I can confirm that I've had the same sort of problem on my laptop a few
minutes ago, immediately after an update (I do updates every day). I get
a black screen. Even recovery mode did not help. Had to revert back to
the previous kernel in recovery mode to be able to even get a plain text
login. Mac
