Rebooting (or even killing lightdm) resets the checkbox, so everytime
the pc boots I have a white login background.

Hello!
I think that I hit this bug too.
Details:
When login screen appears it has a white background, instead of the specific
one i set. I tried every suggestion found on the net with no success. Until
(You have to try everything) I selected the "high contrast" checkbox in the
accessibility me
I had the same problem.
My personal workaround: open the svg file with Scribus and export from here.

When I open a fullscreen opengl application on my asus x58l, the sound
and the input work fine, but the video freezes almost immediately, and
does not unfreeze. I am able to switch to a different console using
Ctrl+Alt+F1, and run "killall -9 app", which stops the sound and the

Upgraded to lucid, everything works fine, without configuring anything.
I don't know what changed, kernel, driver, other... But the general behaviour
of the machine is tons better, faster, and the dual screen works correctly.
For what regards me this report is closed. ;)

rebooted, no way.
upgraded kernel (as synaptic suggested), reinstalled the package and same error.
Nothing in this report suggests me a solution I can try.

Hello! I installed linux-alsa-driver-modules, my kernel is 2.6.32-24-generic.
Again, I only have audio from the earphones.
In alsamixer everything is at the maximum, and nothing is muted.

fresh install of ubuntu lucid, no audio from the laptop speakers, very low from
the earphones. Tried the tricks i could find to fix the problem, but no way to
fix it. I red somewhere that OSS worked in a similar case, so I did this

Cannot test empathy, but pidgin works fine in ubuntu 9.04 & 9.10,

On the virtual machine everything works fine, but the virtual graphics card and
driver are different.
Booted the real machine with the live cd and obtained the same black screen,
but at least i was able to change to a terminal.
