Ok on doing further research I'm reliably informed that this patch
https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/dfaafbaaa291
might be a fix to the problem.
It appears that this isn't included in the source base on a quick
inspection. I'm traveling in the next week so I won't be able to test

I realize that "rebuild" isn't sufficient here. The thing I hear is that
there was a mistaken assumption about VA size in Thunderbird and there
were fixes in upstream firefox / js engine for it and this part was not
rebuilt when Thunderbird was rebuilt for this release.

This is funny -
For Linaro 4.6 for the afflicted instruction we see :
Reload 0: reload_out (SI) = (reg/v:SI 208 [ Suppressed ])
LO_REGS, RELOAD_OTHER (opnum = 0)
reload_out_reg: (reg/v:SI 208 [ Suppressed ])
Reload 1: reload_in (SI) = (reg/v:SI 1356 [ OnMacroInst ])
LO_R
Also happens on armel - so this is not just armhf.

I had the same problem and then realized that my schroot config had the
following line
script-config=desktop/config
While updating fstab in the default case might work in some cases , I
had to update fstab in /etc/schroot/desktop/fstab and then it all
worked.
