Recompiling OpenSSL with these patches from upstream also seems to fix

Apologies for the triple post, but I can confirm that going back to
openssl-1.0.0.h-1 fixes the problem. So it does seem to be an openssl
bug.

I'm experiencing the same problem on Debian (also on a Lenovo X220), but
rolling back to openssl-1.0.0.h-1 didn't fix things for me.
