I have the same problem with ubuntu 8.04.
My computer is Laptop Asus Z92M
The wired ethernet interface NO WORK.
I don't find one solution for this critical bug!!! without Ethernet is not
possible to work.

I follow this steps using ndiswrapper and does not work the NIC.
sudo ndiswrapper -i drivername.inf
then
#sudo ndiswrapper -l
and display this
drivername : driver installed
but does not work. I dont know what can I do!
