A few weeks ago, directly after updating to 15.10, it did seem to work.
Apparently this was just luck, because now nothing seems to be restored.
When manually restarting Firefox, it tries to restore its windows, but
dumps them all on the current desktop.

The update to 15.10 has solved the problem for me to.
Apparently the problem was in storing the session info; After the update
and restart to 15.10 I still had to do a manual restore. After next
restart all was restored with respect to desktop and screen.

I have the same problem, and the same problem exists for python-aptdeamon.

I have just tested it with the new VirtualBox 4.0.0 release which contains
fixes specifically for this problem and Unity now works.
Just enable 3D acceleration, install the guest editions and you are good to go.

Yes it's still an issue in Lucid.
I've setup my account in empathy, then desinstalled empathy and installed
pidgin. The bug occured at this point.
To fix it, I had to reinstall empathy, delete my MSN account, and re-desinstall
empathy.

As Sergi Sales already wrote on 2009-11-15, it seems that the same
problems occur with Via graphic cards. When I am using openchrome
drivers I am unable to select any icons from netbook-launcher. When I
change the openchrome drivers to vesa I am able to select icons. Tested
on both 9.10 and 10.04.
I have this problem too. There are no problems when running kernel
2.6.31-20-generic.
I am using a Hauppauge WinTV PCI, bt878 chipset.
