Binary package hint: ripoff
If you try to rip all the tracks of a cd using mp3 at a bitrate of 256
the tool seems to fall into a lock after 4 or 5 tracks. After stopping
you can retry the leftover tracks one by one, but it slows down with
every next track.

I am using the official Ubuntu 7.10 and I stumbled on the same problem.
There is no way that I can get the Xcursor Selector starting to do its
job.
