I have just upgraded to the gutsy release candidate.
kpilotDaemon appears to block as soon as it is started, for example :
- the systray icon does not redraw itself
- if in kpilot I click on Settings -> Configure kpilot, then kpilot blocks

and that there is no easy fix are somewhat beside the point. We are not

I have this problem with sound-juicer on ubuntu edgy. I have no problem
with the tags produced by kaudiocreator on another distro, but have not
tried any ripper other than sound-juicer on ubuntu.

I confirm the problem I mentioned in bug #43606 does not exist in Edgy.
It appears acpid itself checks for the existence of /var/lock/acpisleep
and does not process events if this file exists. This is consistent with
a comment in the acpi scripts at the point where this file is created.
