I also have the same issue with the Lucid Netbook Edition. No sign of
the applet. I wonder if this is intentional?

Below is the output of /proc/cpuinfo from my system. I think the
solution would be to search /proc/cpuinfo for 'vmx' or 'svm' and if
these flags are present then go with KVM with VTx support.
Would you like me to go ahead and create a patch for this?

only an issue on shutdown, I am able to Reboot, Hibernate and Suspend
without an issue.
Removing quiet / splash options in my Grub menu seems to resolve the
