Correction to the above: I just took a screen-shot and the cursor did
appear in it.

I have seen something similar to this with possible work-arounds but
nothing will fix it for me at the present.
The cursor frequently becomes invisible and I can only track it by
pressing the 'Ctrl' key, so I can keep working but with difficulty.

Well I can confirm that Evolution mail is working in an installed Ubuntu
10.04 on another computer. I finally got it to work by appending the
port number to the server address, as : --
Inwards mail : imap.gmail.com:993 SSL encryption, Password
authentication.
Outwards mail : smtp.gmai

I have been trying in vain to set up my Evolution Mail to connect to my
Gmail account. It shows the Inbox with '1 unread, 405 total' but nothing
in the panel where the subject line should appear and I am not able to
read the email.

Well there is a work-around for apport that I have just used
successfully.
sudo gedit /etc/init.d/apport
and changed PATH=/bin to PATH=/bin:/sbin/, saved and used synaptic to
update apport successfully.
