System doesn't boot properly on Gigabyte AM4 motherboards
Just got this from Gigabyte Support:

Sorry but Gigabyte do not guarantee Linux Platform on the desktop motherboard.

In the meantime, I booted the Kubuntu install ISO with acpi=off setting.
The same option was required for the first boot
Submitted a request with Gigabyte support just now. Can't believe this
has been dragging on for two months. Who would have thought to check
whether the chosen motherboard even boots up with the latest OS prior to
purchasing :\ Extremely frustrating.

Same issue here on Ryzen 5 1600 + Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 when fresh-
installing Kubuntu 17.10. Shouldn't the importance of this issue be at
least "High"? What can be worse than if you can't even install the OS on
your PC? In the meantime as a workaround, Fedora 26 seems to work fine.

I remove files plasma-desktop-appletsrc and plasma-desktoprc from
~/.kde/config/share and the problem is gone. So are all my desktop and
widget settings, but it took a minute to set it back up.

I get the same problem. Everything was working just fine, but suddenly I
get a black desktop on login. I can see plasma panels with widgets
running, but there is no desktop - just black screen. When I go to to
Settings > Desktop > Multiple Desktops and I toggle and apply the

I can confirm this problem as well - using CDMA connection, I get
connected, Firefox is communicating perfectly, Skype / Kopete is online,
but Konqueror and KMail can not connect anywhere.

i experience the same bug running gdmflexiserver --xnest in Feisty amd64.
I turn the workspaces couple of times (running beryl) and the xnest window is
gone - dies with no error output :(
When I check runnig processes I stil can see the gdm process, xnest is gone.
