Hi all!
I've installed Ubuntu 22.04 for real and using the proprietary driver in
fact solves the screen issue.
However, in my opinion, someone who wants to try Ubuntu from a live
stick should not need to worry about such things (e. g. also try using
safe graphics mode). That person is likely to n
@Daniel
I'll gladly do that, but I won't get my hands on that computer before
Thursday and I'd need to either figure out how to create a persistent
live stick or to install 22.04 on a separate partition or drive.

@Damon Does not sound like a pleasant experience.
The issue is probably related to Wayland and Nvidia drivers then.
Doesn't look to good for Ubuntu if prospect users try the live system
and one of the first experiences that they make is a corrupted screen.

Public bug reported:
I started Ubuntu 22.04 from a live pen drive. Everything seems fine, the
usual screen with the options to "Try Ubuntu" or "Install" Ubuntu
appears. When hitting "Try Ubuntu", the screen turns black for a couple
of seconds and then re-appears in yellow and brown colors, feels l

Sure, if you're interested in anything particular, just let me know.
There's full bug report output attached to the original bug report
ticket for my old setup.
Hope those two help:

@cijay Amendmend, since you're mentioning your computer's CPUs - that's
not what I was referring to when I mentioned an AMD chipset, but the USB

@cijay The AMD chipset as the culprit is the best hypothesis so far. I
have not checked for differences in the configuration, but only been
enjoying the Rødecaster on a non-AMD chipset port.

I have now built in a separate PCIe board with USB ports that do not
rely on AMD chipsets. The RODECaster Pro now works perfectly. So this
seems to be in fact something out of the audio driver's responsibility
(?) and needs to be fixed somewhere else?

cause might be. Hopefully, this can be fixed in software, too.

Rumor has it that the my USB ports powered by an AMD chipset might be
the culprit. I have no clue whatsoever how this could be fixed in
software, but I am now waiting for a PCIe USB card with a different
chipset to check if there's a (preliminary) fix in hardware at least.

@all who commented: I am not sure if there's some threshold that needs
to be met before this issue gets more attention by someone who could
look into it, but I assume it helps if you confirm that this bug affects
you at the top of this page, so the "hotness" score rises.

@Peabody Yes, I have ran into the same problems on 21.04 and reported
that separately at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-

@Brett Not an option for my use case, unfortunately, but good to know
that more and more report the issue here.

I can confirm the bug using Ubuntu 12.04 (64bit) Precise Pangolin and
