Indeed, I have to revoke my fix-confirmation. I didn't experience the
focus stealing in the first hour after the update but then it occurred
again. Now Evince sometime steals the focus and sometimes it politely
stays in the background. Strange, I couldn't yet detect what causes
which behavior.

I know I shouldn't recommend this, but one can manually install the most
recent evince version from natty (2.32.0-0ubuntu12.2) in maverick (get
it here: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/natty/+package/evince). Based on
this dirty workaround, I can confirm that this issue does not appear

I think I found the problem.
Instead of copying files to the new user home I hided some directories
(chown to root and chmod to 700).
Here is a list of the directories in my home with number of files and
size.

stress nautilus. The problem (high CPU load) is most annoying when
browsing any directory with a lot of image files (also S

I know there are several bugs concerning nautilus and a high CPU load.
However, they does not really fit to my situation.
The problem is that whenever nautilus starts (e.g. on login or after a
'killall nautilus'), it uses 80% to 100% of the CPU
