Why is this bug invalid?
I have the same problem in Ubuntu Mate 16.04 when accessing the menu of Eclipse
32 Bit version and still no solution.
The bug is 100 % reproducible as Angel Guzman Maeso said.
And it is a Gtk error message.

Bug #877438 is talking about dual-head two monitor setups and a running unity
plugin.
But this is not the reason for this bug here.
The conclus
On addition to my last posting.
The process that is consuming 50 % of the cpu time is nautilus on my system.
Deactivating nautilus for example by switching to XFCE solves the problem,
though it's not a good/real solution.

Just add the following to /etc/modules
nvidia -r
nvidia_new
That's all.
And don't forget to make sure that the driver = "nvidia" option is used in the
Xorg Configuration file.
