Yes it helps. This specific bug is fixed for me as I can no longer
reproduce it.
There is still a small problem. Now Ubuntu seems to respect the default
applications set by the user with the exception of the video player,
which is weird.

Hi Gary. I have bad news and good news. On the command-line gvfs-open
always does what it should, but the software-center always opens the
chromium browser, no matter which one I set as default.
So the problem on my system remains.

If I establish the connection through Ubuntu instead of sending the file
from the cellphone, and then using nautilus browse the cellphone files
and copy them to the desktop everything works fine.

I thought doing that but there isn't a package called totem-dbgsym.
Anyway I installed totem-gstreamer-dbgsym and did a backtrace and a
strace. Hope this helps. Sorry for the bad english.

Yes. For the first user created the resolution is correct. But I did an
update from feisty to gusty not a fresh installation and then created
the new user with administrator privileges.

Sorry didn't know how to get more information and launching nautilus
from terminal didn't gave me any output. Thank you for pointing me the
right direction, now I know what to do. Unfortunately I reinstalled
ubuntu and now i can't reproduce the bug. Well...that is less one
problem to solve for me.
