I got this error too on Ubuntu 13.04 (64bit) with an ethernet cable
connection. The problem still occurs, sometimes after some time when I
didn't use suspend. I'm not sure when exactly. Maybe when the
Diskstation goes to sleep and wakes up again. Killing "gvfsd-afp" does
work.

Same here on Ubuntu Natty Development (2.32.52-1ubuntu2) 32bit. This bug
