I am also having the invisible cursor problem after waking up from
suspend on HP Desktop AMD 64. I got the mouse cursor back by locking
with xscreensaver.
I ran the command using alt + f2
xscreensaver-command --lock
Cursor reappeared on lock screen and after entering password the cursor
was back

#31 Thank you so much. This problem was driving me nuts.
On a side note if anyone is interested in having the screen wake up when the
laptop is set to do nothing when closing the lid I have found the follow
Commenting out the line has worked for me so far. Will repost if I come
across a situation where the workaround fails.
