I'm also experiencing this bug in 16.10 with Gnome PPA's installed
though. It seemed to occur when I upgraded the kernel to 4.8.1 with
synaptic. Since then I can only boot into a Wayland session and can't
launch synaptic either, though I can install other package managers.

I'm experiencing the same problem with Grub uefi. My system is a single OS rig
with Ubuntu Gnome 13.04 installed using the 3.10 kernel (issues with a 7750
graphics card!). The Grub issue was also present before I upgraded the kernel
from the Ubuntu kernel ppa.
My system boots OK but w
Really odd- I never had a problem with the K350 on 11.10 but
periodically on 12.04 64bit this issue crops up. The Logitech mouse I've
got is not an issue.
If anyone wants me to try anything to resolve this- I'll give it a go.
