This problem reproduces for me consistently: if I configure Gossip to
connect to a host that isn't running a jabberd (or not on the right
port), it immediately segfaults in freeaddrinfo(). This is on
AMD64/Fiesty (0.23-0ubuntu1 of Gossip).

On AMD64/edgy, cvs seems to consistently dump core on my machine.

The CVSROOT is valid, and the same repository worked fine with Dapper:
