Since I updated my system to kernel 2.6.35 some 4 days ago all the
problems with the wireless dropping is gone. Used the system intense
(google maps, youtube, torrents and other stuff) and not one connection
drop. My system is running smoothly on that new kernel and I'm going to
stay there.

disconnect isn't after 30 seconds, but 100% reproducible after zooming

I have the same problem on my Dell Inspiron 9400 with a IntelĀ®
PRO/Wireless 3945ABG wireless card. The connection drops when using
Google Maps, Youtube or other big downloads.
Also tested the linux-backports-modules-wireless-lucid-generic packages,
but no luck there. Never had any problems on Ubu
After I filed this bug, I found a kernel update via apt-get. After I
installed that, the problem stopped occurring.
This bug can probably be closed.
If I find it happening again, I'll go to mainline.

Once a day, my Lenovo X201 hangs. Mouse doesn't move, I cannot flip to
alt screens. I must do a hard reboot. I believe it to be related to
the i915 driver, as the following appears in /var/log/messages:

Found this issue by following a tutorial that used apache2-ssl-
certificate as others mentioned. Started at 8.04 and upgraded up to 9.10
checking if apache2 would include the script at each step along the way.

NO, unconfirm!!!
Fix isn't working. Still have the hdd making noise when I shutdown the
system.
Also the harddisk still shows as /dev/sda.

/etc/init.d/hdd-shutdown-workaround /etc/rcS.d/S99hdd-shutdown-workaround
Do this as root user.
This will set the noise less shutdown during startup and then all differtent
shutdown options will work fine.

There is no solution yet. The problem is found in other Linux Distro's to so it
is marked as a kernel bug.
I hope there wil be a solution soon, because this keeps me from going to
a newer Kubuntu. I'm on 6.06 LTS.

problem on the shutdown.
Tried fully updated kubuntu edgy => and the strange noise is there
Tried kubuntu feisty => and the strange noise is there
This was classified as a kernal bug, but edgy and feisty run different
kernels.
