No, the behaviour I am seeing is definitely 2-finger tap = right click
and 3-finger tap = middle click.
I've had a look at the package, and it looks like it is probably being
caused by 104_always_enable_tapping.patch:

I am experiencing what appears to be this bug with 3.0.11+build2
+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.9.04.1 on jaunty. Often (not always) when opening
links, switching tabs or scrolling Firefox locks up and uses 100% of one
core for several seconds. This may be exacerbated by me having
approximately 50 tabs open
Please update the intrepid and jaunty libgtkada2 packages to the version
in karmic (2.12.0-4ubuntu1). This will fix this bug and bug #280503.
This has no impact as the original package version remains the same and
in any case the current package version cannot be installed on most

Having a conflict resolves the packaging error, but it doesn't make
libgtkada2 usable since zenity is a dependency of several core Ubuntu

I have a similar issue (on an MSI S271 laptop) with hardy (both amd64
and i386).

This bug is still present in the latest security update to firefox on
feisty (2.0.0.5).
Attached is a patch for /usr/lib/firefox/firefox which fixes the
problem.

A simple way to fix this (on feisty) is to edit /usr/lib/firefox/firefox
and change
