You're right. It does appear to be host-specific. I connected to an
Ubuntu host and it did output colors, however a Centos 5.6 host did not.
Connecting with regular gnome-terminal, however did output colors for
both hosts. My byobu is version 3.33-0ubuntu1, GNOME Terminal 2.32.1

solution didn't do a thing for me. The only band-aid solution is to kill

running kdm, so it's definitely not a gdm problem. Usually it's one
random program that freezes on me for about 30 seconds and everything
else is usually usable. This happens probably once every 20 minutes or

repositories and everything seems to work correctly except:
.asx files, where I get the missing codec dialog problem. However, when
