Yes, on the primary monitor chromium uses 100% of screen.
And firefox uses 100% of screen on both monitors.
So the problem is with chronium on secondary monitor only.
NOTE: If you click into that 25% (e.g. to stop/start video) the
fullscreen starts to
if we are forced to use these desktop-icons...
then they should not appear under the dock!

I get a notification if snap updates chromium in background.
But clicking the notification does nothing - only the notifcation disappears.
No restart of all chromium instances - so not really useful...

I tried again to collect the xorg logs.
To force new log files i did "rm .local/share/xorg/*" before booting with
nvidia.
after reboot i did not find any files in ".local/share/xorg" !!
nevertheless i found xorg logs in "/var/log"
so i will attach these files now.

Have the same problem on Ubuntu 17.04.
The background image disappears too (all black).
I think the nvidia-driver 375.39 is recommended for Ubuntu 17.04, so
there is no possibility to downgrade the driver.
