The problem here is that the package automatically configures inetd when the
user enable the
"server". Splitting into two different packages as suggested in the bug
thread on ubuntu makes no sense because the server part actually is none

Binary package hint: openssl-blacklist
The current version of openssl-blacklist can only check locally against
the server key. This makes the tool unsuitable for masschecking hosts of
your own, your customers etc. I attach a shell script which uses your
tables to check hosts
Oh, and you write "If you're willing to generate patches of your own,
we'll consider maintaining them as long as they've also been submitted
upstream.". Now, i would send the patch upstream but unfortunately you
don't state the source of the xen patch used in your package. So i
can't.
