I can confirm the bug and the proposed solution.
I ran into issues with the 470 driver and hence uninstalled it. Since then my
computer refused to suspend or hibernate. I always just got logged out.
After deleting the following files, it works so far:

To demonstrate data loss, just open a new application and roll up the window.
Then use alt-tab to get to this window. On my machine the whole session get
killed and I'm logged out! So I don't only lose the one application, but all
open files!
(Tried with Thunderbird and AisleRiot Solitaire under
+1 on the last comment.
Personally I think it's a shame for the Linux world, that such a show
stopper is not fixed since 2 major releases! How should I convince
anyone having a non Mass-Storage Smartphone to switch to Linux??? These
errors occurred on plain installs from the DVD-Images.

Ok, now I see.
The segmentation fault happened immediately, the system stalls with no
message a few minutes later (actually while writing this report).
No idea how to reproduce
