There ar sum attachments to bug 55753 from erleer in the install
process. It mite help to establish exactly wot I wos trying to do.
I think at wun point my sdb2 wos being displayed in the partition screen
as "unknown" even tho I had
Werks fine now.
Still an important bug in the installer however.
I shood also note that I never chanjed the boot order in BIOS. It's
simply that GRUB detects them in the rong order.

I just got bitten bi a similar issue.
I hav:
SATA 1 - /dev/sda
SATA 2 - /dev/sdb
PATA 1 - /dev/hdb
In mi ASUS/nVidia BIOS, the boot configuration is:
CD-ROM
SATA
SCSI
HDD (meening PATA/IDE)
Installing Ubuntu 6.06 from the Live CD resulted in an unbootable
sistem. I just see "GRUB GRUB GRUB" hee

Installing on mi sistem failed wen using the automatic partitioner, so I
choze manual partitioning.
I added /dev/sdb1 (Linux ext2) and /dev/sdb2 (Linux swop) then clicked
next. I wos askd to set mi mount points. After triing to click the
drop-down box for the swop partition
The last bit ov the log in the crash box looks like this. Perhaps the Go Back
button just dusnt werk (wich wood be a separat bug from the problems with
handling mi disk configuration).

Wen triing to install Ubuntu, it gets as far as "15% - Detecting file
systems" then fails. It takes me back to the partition screen. After
triing to delete the default swap partition (/dev/sdb5) and readd it as
a primary partition (/dev/sdb2) then configuring mi uther partit

- SATA 1 = /dev/sda
- SATA 2 = /dev/sdb
- PATA 1 (IDE) = /dev/hda
I hav a Windows install on /dev/sda1 (ntfs file system), a data
