What was the rational for changing the file name in the first place?
What is wrong with presenting a overwrite warning/question to the user
for equal file names?
Silently changing file names is not very nice in my opinion. At least
there should be an option to disable this mechanism.

This seems not to be an ibus bug. I removed all ibus specific packages.
I'm using scim-prime instead and still got this issue.
When I right-click on the editor and select "Input Methods" in the
context menu, the by default selected entry is "System (X Input
Method)". Selecting "SCIM Bridge Inpu

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: nautilus-filename-repairer
I installed the nautilus-filename-repairer (0.0.5-1) and after loging
out and in again the respective menu entry appears for corrupted file
names (see attached screenshot). But clicking the entry doesn't seem to
have any effect.
I'm sorry, I didn't feel confident enough to do the git bisect.
But as I switched to the new intrepid release, the problem disappeared.

I recently updated from 7.10 to 8.04 running kernel 2.6.24-19.
My system hangs at the same point as described above. After about 5min
the boot process resumes and the system works stable.
Switching off ACPI solves the problem, but since my system is a laptop,
this isn't an option.
