even when using the "nolock" mount option.

I'm running Ubuntu 12.04, LDAP, autofs and have this problem. I tried
#62. It seemed to work at least partially. I was able to complete login
some of the time but not all the time. I tried #5 but that didn't seem

After performing a kernel update on a Natty client image, the client is
unable to boot because only root has read permission for the files in
the tftp directory, e.g. vmlinuz, initrd.img.
