The ruby-hyperestraier package puts its estraier.so file into
/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/1.9.1/x86_64 but ruby loads native modules
from /usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/1.9.1/x86_64-linux.
I symlinked the estraier.so into the other directory and could use it
with require "estraier"

Just tried it in the 12.04 daily build. It works fine there. So seems to

Hmm. The karmic driver works for me in lucid. I had to completely remove
the package and install it again though. Otherwise I got an obscure
error message.

I got it working by adding HorizSync and VertRefresh in the "Monitor"
section in my xorg.conf.
You can get the correct values by running "sudo ddcprobe" after
installing the xresprobe package. Look for monitorrange in the output.
