Current version of courier (0.68) is the same since Ubuntu Trusty
through Ubuntu Xenial.
Courier is now at version 0.75. Debian has already newer versions:
Debian Jessie released at April 2015 is 0.73.1
Debian Unstable is current at 0.75.0 which seems is the latest one.
Please add this fix to trusty too, it is only on utopic or vivid.
Or at least to trusty-proposed or trusty-backports.

Steve,
thanks for the update. I found the problem, my GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX had the
"profile" parameter. With that /dev/.bootchart is not created. Bootchart is
working now. May be some people with the same problem have this parameter too.
