this seems to be some form of permission issues, which is weird when
digikam works.
I just tested KDE 4.11.3 on openSUSE 13.1 and accessing cameras via
camera: url in either dolphin and konqueror works nicely as user.

The Canon EOS has a different issue on why it does not retrieve thumbnails,
while adding EOS fast directory I broke the thumbnail preview getting.

If the camera does not store thumbnails in EXIF, than libgphoto2 currently can
not provide preview images,
as we do not do image processing in such cases.
(We would need to download the full image and post-process it, which might not
be what users want if they

"libgphoto2" that extracts thumbnails
from the EXIF tag using "libexif".
I looked at the buildsystem info here and it seems to links against libexif, so
I need some debuglog
to verify if libgphoto2 has other problems.

dosbox runs a full cpu emulation, so it does not need page 0 mapped.
(similar thing is done in dosemu in the current Ubuntu package btw)

uploading images to a Canon camera is usually not possible, and at most
JPEG files can be uploaded.
I think the gvfs slave does not allow upload at all.
So I think you are out of luck for uploading data. (data could be
uploaded to the card with a cardreader)

It is a RockBox bug.
It reuses a USB ID for a device but provides different functionality.

libmtp and libgphoto2 both access the device via "MTP".
The user seems to want to access the device via "USB Mass Storage" instead, and
removing the id
removes it from auto-starting things like gvfs, which in turn detach the Mass

both images and music.
While it is not a camera, it is a MTP based player, and
it is fully supported by libgphoto2/gphoto2.
(perhaps it should not get detected as camera, but otherwise it is

the problem is that the spca5xxx video module is loaded already
and blocks the port.
newer libgphoto2 should be able to detach the device, if it is not in
use.
I guess it is in use in your case.

udev supports als interface class matches which should work here.
The print-camera-list helper in 2..2.1 supports it, if you have older
