This occurred while using the update manager. The manager suggested 10
updates of which none where security updates. I pressed the "update"
button and the update stalled on the linux-image-2.6.32-34-generic
2.6.32-34.77 package informing me about a post-install error no. 17.

but every time I try to check the box next to it (i.e. add it), a message pops
up telling me to add the channel, so I press the "add

1. Click on "Applications" menu button
2. Go to "Edit menu" and click
3. That's it, the whole menu is gone (exept the panel button).
I chuckled to read "menu unexpectedly removed" in one of the logs.
Can't really do much now - luck
