Some news. The original reporter of the Mandriva's bug has added a comment saying that the problem also happens with QEMU. After investigating it for a while I have found that, indeed, QEMU also OOPSes but with a different behaivor. For example, QEMU works with latest 2.6.27-rc3, while virtualbox
