I know GNOME and Ubuntu Spanish Translators are translating as neutrally as possible so that those translations can be used in all Spanish speaking countries. And that is the reason why I don't understand the use of "vídeo" instead of "video". I haven't found any discussions in the lists of these

With all due respect, the word «vídeo» is a correct translation if you were translating for Spain only, and that's not the case for Ubuntu Spanish Translators. I've always thought that that translation is partial. Also, have in mind that RAE is becoming panhispanic, but it is not panhispanic yet.
