I have installed the kernel packages found at the followin link:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.0.25-oneiric/
and the problem disappeared.
A newer version (v3.0.26-oneiric) of the kernel is also available but I did not
test it yet.

With my Toshiba Satellite M70-SR2 (PSM73C-SR200E), sound stops playing
correctly after few seconds.
You can just hear a continuous stuttering noise related to the last sound

With my system, sound stops working after few minutes. It happens with
Ubuntu 8.10 and 9.04, i386. I think this problem is similar to bug
#380098 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/380098.

I have the same problem: I upgraded from 8.10 to 9.04 and the file
/etc/qt3/qt_plugins_3.3rc has no read permission for others.
I fixed it by adding read permission to others, too.

I have exactly the same problem with my notebook and my HP PSC 750 printer:
very often the last page of a print job is not finished and released until
several minutes of waiting or until a new print job is started.
This problem occurs with Ubuntu 8.04, 8.10 and 9.04 with the driver HP PSC 750
