I am unable to confirm or deny the status of this bug at this time. I
switched back to using Thunderbird from the Xenial repository quite some
time ago and am now on version 52.9.1+build3-0ubuntu0.16.04.1.

Public bug reported:
Expected: Unity integrated menus as in previous version
Instead: Menu not visible until ALT key shortcut pressed and it will
then appear in application window instead of integrated into Unity
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04
Package: thunderbird 1:56.0~b1+build1-
Further testing fixed this symptom by quoting the name field containing
the commas on the sending side. This does not appear to be an MUA error
and should probably be closed.
