i'm trying to preseed my ubuntu installation with mini.iso/netboot-Image over
wifi.
lsusb shows me rtl8187. But loading rtl8187 failed, because the modul is
missing'...

Just letting you know that it works like expected (including auto-config) under
Intrepid Ibex.
This was just tested with a MFC 5440CN.
Installed the packages from the repos, plugged the printer in and it worked. I
was even able to change the paper size to A4.

Fetching album cover art from the internet does not work at all in the current
version of Rhythmbox in Hardy (0.11.5-0ubuntu1).
This is not the way it should be.

That really did the trick and the Brother package installed fine.
And I was actually able to switch back and forth between "Letter" and
"A4" with the original Brother package.
Hope this helps and you guys will be able to solve the problem within

After playing around a little bit more with the ubuntu-package and
editing the file
/usr/Brother/inf/brMFC5440CNre
manually and setting PaperType=A4 instead of PaperType=Letter
it works like expected and the test page is actually printed using A4.
So that's where the Problem lies.

did not do anything.
Also when all ubuntu packages are removed.
The Brother mfc5440cnlpr-1.0.2-1.i386.deb -package installed just fine.
But the Brother cupswrapper-package gives this error:

I have trouble installing the original Brother drivers.
I will investigate in that and provide more information later.
But I can confirm that the switch between the letter-format and the
A4-format worked just fine in Feisty and Gutsy with the drivers from the
brother website.

Brother printer drivers printing is not possible in the A4-format.
Even if changed in system-config-printer and/or the cups web interface every
document is printed out in the letter-format.

freshly installed Alpha 6 (including all updates).

I just testet in on Gutsy with the 0.7-Package from www.getdeb.net and it works
fine.
It is very nice to see brasero maturing so quickly and features being added in
each release.
There should be a "merge tracks"-option in order to put various tracks together
to receive one large track on the
I can confirm that it is working with Alpha2 of Hardy Heron.
No more "nolapic" needed.
Hopefully it stays that way since the 2.6.24 kernel is still in development.

I have "Auto-Login" activated.
I get a Desktops with no panels and as soon as I click on the desktop the
panels and the key-ring window appear.
This is with Intel graphics.

Same Problem here with a up to date Ubuntu Gutsy (Sept. 3rd 2007).
That feature has got to come back.
It's so useful and I (and also my girlfriend) have gotten really used to it.
It would be highly appreciated if that could be fixed.

The nolapic option is needed.
The same thing happened in Feisty but was not resolved.
It all was fine in Breezy, Dapper and Edgy. Edgy was best concerning

Still no change for this in Gutsy as of Tribe 2.

Booting without any options:

Just for the record on my Asus M2400N Centrino Laptop besides the problem with
the extra keys, there is no sound, suspend, hibernate either.
I guess that is due to the acpi=off boot option.
I also really hope this gets fixed soon so I'll be able to test Fesity.
