I am another unfortunate user who tried to build opencv 2.4.9 on ubuntu
13.10 and ended up with an unusable system. My hardware is AMD A6 with
Radeon Graphics card.
I had the AMD catalyst drivers installed in my machine, I couldn't
recover back to my old drivers, I didn't find this page when I was

not sure though, and hav tried changing the sound preferences but doesnt seem
to be coming through, is there something specific i need to do??? and im a
total newbie to ubuntu hence i'm unfamiliar with the commands
