Alright so Ubuntu 8.10 fully updated as of today October 20, 2008
doesn't detect my floppy drive.
I can't find it in the "places" section on the gnome panel or in the
"Computer" section in nautilus.

Hi, I have been using Ubuntu with the proprietary nvidia driver since
Ubuntu 7.10 and suspend to ram and disk always worked except in 8.10
they don't work at all. Please keep in mind Ubuntu 8.10 is fully updated
as of today.

I have left Kubuntu and won't be using it again, I can't believe the
devs included this in Hardy as well even though they were well aware of
this problem.
Kind of embarrasing that the default file manager of an OS can't even
cut and paste files.

Hi, I just found out something if u use the latest kernel for Gutsy that
is:

With this kernel along with the latest nvidia drivers for this kernel,

Sorry, but I think ATI users need the latest drivers as well. I never
used an ATI card with Linux so I don't know what package to install but
u could always use Envy to install the latest drivers.
For nvidia add this repo in sources list:
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hardy main restricte

Oh yeah to those who upgraded to Hardy's kernel please make sure u
upgrade ur nvidia drivers from the restricted repositories for Hardy. It
should work then.

Upgrade to Hardy's kernel 2.6.24-2 fixes this problem or downgrade to
Gutsy kernel 2.6.22-12. I can confirm this myself, other people should
try this as well.

Hi, this is what happens. I use a speedtouch router. The routers
configuration page is speedtouch.lan. The first time u type it in Ubuntu
or Kubuntu it works, as soon as u configure pppoe using the command sudo
pppoeconf. You can never visit the webpage speedtouch.lan again. T
Oh yeah this never happened in Fiesty, it only happens in Gutsy so I am
sure this is a bug in the new release.

If any one wants to know how to apply the patch then do this:
1.save the applied patch in ur home directory as "patch_d3lphin.diff"
2.open terminal and type in these commands:
cd /usr/share/apps/d3lphin/servicemenus
sudo patch -p1 < ~/patch_d3lphin.diff
Thats it, the patch should be done now.

I hope these pictures give u an idea of what is happening, sometimes the
icon isn't there at all and there is a blank space in between. This
doesn't happen in konqueror though.

Yeah this problem still exists in Dolphin 0.9.2 in KDE 3.5.8 in an up to

Hi, I am using KDE 3.5.8. Its the folder icons that r not drawn
completely. I will attach a screen shot as soon it occurs again. Some
folder icons r missing and there is an empty space between them so when
I move my cursor over there they appear at once. Some half of the icon

Hi, I am using Kubuntu 7.10 completely up to date. I have noticed that in
Dolphin file manager some icons r not drawn completely or drawn at all
sometimes. As soon as I start hovering over them, they start to appear.
Konqueror doesn't have this
Yeah it happened with Compiz Fusion running. I think my mouse is more
sensitive so thats why it happened cause in my computer it happens with
other distro too so I think we can delete this bug.

Hi, yeah one more thing. Its bad news. The latest Ubuntu updates to
kernel 2.6.22-14 and the new updated nvidia-glx-new package make the
problem worse. It doesn't fix anything and it also does not allow
suspend and hibernate in kernel 2.6.22-12. I hope the kernel team will
fix this soon.

Hi, yeah I seriously hope the Ubuntu team fixes this bug. I had this
problem on my P4 and when I went back to the old kernel everything works
perfect only problem is I hate using an old kernel, I think it may have
security issues.
