I am now using Kubuntu 7.10 & Evolution 2.12.1 and have MANY less
problems than before. You can close it, its probably been fixed by
now. The only problem I have with Evolution these days is intermitten
freezing, but I believe it more due to the Exchange connector and OWA
than anything else.
/mnt/L_drive server side is a Windows share.
I believe the problem is due in general to the way rdiff-backup names
its files. It uses reserved characters that windows rejects, mainly the
':' character it uses in the timestamps. These files go in the
rdiff-backup-data dir. I posted what you said

I dunno, I just wrote my own backup script using rdiff-backup to backup
my home to my tmp dir. This was so that I could then tar up the
results, encrypt the tar, and then copy it to a Windows samba share(The
only place available I can backup
