The issue persists. I can boot into the 4.15-rc3 kernel in recovery
mode fine. In that case it comes up with the built in intel 800x640
resolution, not the nvidia graphics.

first time trying to install. I will proceed with newest kernel.

I was able to boot into ubuntu using recover mode (modeset listed in
line beginning with 'linux' after choosing advanced ubuntu in grub menu)
ran apport as requested in email sent to me after creating ticket.

Running on an intel5 with radeon hd5470.
It seems like the upgrade undid all my work to get crysal fglrx working
previously. Perhaps there should be a dialog to check before wiping out
fglrx for xorg drivers. I want to do some gpu programming and need the
fglrx to work with opencl etc packages
The link to the patch mentioned in bugzilla
no longer works. Has this patch been applied to Ubuntu's package or is
there a way to correct this?
