I updated my system today and got strange font rendering problems in
emacs. I tested emacs23 23.1+1-4ubuntu7 and emacs-snapshot-gtk
20090909-1 . Both behave exactly the same.
Yes, it seems to be a duplicate of bug #674488. I'll attach the
debugging info tomorrow.

I am using two monitors (laptop + external monitor). The bug does _not_
manifest itself, when I unplug the external monitor. Strange.
