No need to restart the machine to reproduce the problem. Once you have set the
panel to autohide, just restart lxpanel: run this terminal command and then
wait for several seconds; then mouse over the panel to cause it to pop into
view:

bamfdaemon crashed with SIGABRT in

this problem occurred on my eeepc 901 after launching gnome power
manager, before i made any changes. in the past this same problem
happened more frequently but apps are apparently crashing less as Natty
improves from week to week

quadrapassel is causing my machine to show unusual memory-usage
statistics (according to "top"and "system monitor"):
when it crashes, quadrapassel has a memory usage of about 36mb according
to top. top and system monitor show the total memory used by the system
at about 100% of 1GB physical memory
