My Dell E1405 running latest Ubuntu Hardy kernel 2.6.24-21-generic #1 SMP suffered from this unresponsiveness problem until today when i found this thread and added pci=nomsi to kernel boot parameters. After that my system has been running fine. Let me know if you want any other tests to be done
