My Dell E1405 running latest Ubuntu Hardy kernel 2.6.24-21-generic #1
SMP suffered from this unresponsiveness problem until today when i found
this thread and added pci=nomsi to kernel boot parameters. After that
my system has been running fine. Let me know if you want any other
tests to be done
i just remove my update-manager related directories:
rm -r .update-manager-core
rm -r .update-notifier
and after that i didn't anymore get the error message.

i tried using latest 7.10 with
rautu:~# uname -a
Linux rautu 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Sun Oct 14 23:05:12 GMT 2007 i686
GNU/Linux
and now wireless networking works with lucent pcmcia card.
i don't know if it would work to install ubuntu from scratch.

i noticed too when upgrading from fiesty to gutsy and thus from oo 2.2
to 2.3 that line spacing got increased and now i have to go through lots
of trouble to modify texts in oowriter and ooimpress to make them look
nice again. is this a real bug in oo 2.3 and if so, is there any hope

after removing files in /usr/local/lib and reinstalling twinkle, it
found all libraries.
