Public bug reported:
Sound works fine after restart, but then suddenly the speakers go
silent. The headphone jack is still giving out sound, though. The
problem never occurred before, I first noticed it only after a recent
Linux kernel upgrade, so I suspect it may be related.

Please fix this already! Things like this mean that Ubuntu is less
accessible to "ordinary" users, not to mention how bad it looks,
compared to what a simple little problem it is.
Yes, I am using automatic login. Thank you! But I already found out how
to disable the popup. I was at that point warned that my passwords will
be stored unencrypted...
In any case, the dialog should either be dismissible, or should not be
ever presented to the user, because this is just false sec
P.P.S. Yeah, I'm not able to do that, am I? :D Let me know if it would
be useful to open a duplicate of this issue under seahorse, if there is
no other way

ct, it just pops up again! Regardless of
whether the Ubuntu One sync service is to blame or not, I'm hoping you
will agree that this situation should not be possible, and if the user
cancels, maybe a couple of times, then perhaps reduce it from a popup to
a notification?..

I think no popup should be allowed to be so agressive in grabbing the
input from the user.
I'm not sure if this belongs under Unity, I apologise if this is the
wrong place to report it.

I apologize for not responding, I was busy at the time you asked, and
later I completely forgot.
Anyways, I've burned some DVDs in the meantime and this did not happen
again. It hasn't crashed again. Though, brasero often acts strange after
burning, and I'm developing a habit of restarting it afte
Uhm, no, I did not disable anything in Empathy. I removed the indicator-
applet, that worked out much better for me.
I don't know, for me, this is still a bug. How was I supposed to know
this? Why, in the first place, would the indicator-applet be spawning
anything? Why isn't the choice of an IM c
I'm not sure if this is related, but something seems to be wrong since I
upgraded to 9.10. I watched a YouTube video just now, and it suddenly
started to be a little slow. It didn't show much trouble in it's normal
size, but when I activated fullscreen mode, it was unwatchable. This
doesn't happen
Totem seems to work fine.

I get similar behaviour. I'm using 9.10, fully updated, with ATI
Catalyst drivers version 9.10 (xorg-drivers-fglrx 2:8.661-0ubuntu1), and
the card being ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470. The choppy behaviour occurs
after a certain period, depending on the bitrate of the video, somewhere
between 10 and 3
I think this is still a bug.
If the user menu (indicator-session-applet?) is so keen on interacting
with Empathy and Empathy alone, it should ignore Pidgin's status
changes. I believe it should remain grey when pidgin starts up, and
perhaps not even show the little baloon icon at all when
