Same issue here. Problem appeared after upgrading to 20.10 (a couple of
weeks ago). Didn't realize about it until I couldn't initiate X session
(there was no space in root folder for the temporary files and got an
error message).
Deleting the file solves the "main issue" and I'm able to log in aga

I have the same problem (logout on first attempt fails).
I found that disabling Dropbox app in panel (kill process) fix the
problem!!!
But this solution is not satisfactory for me, because I need to use
dropbox.

When you select every partition device file (ie hda3), it tells that its
not configured and asks if you want to set the partition up.
I have to mention that all partitions on my system are mounted and
configured on fstab using their UUID's.
